Photographer's Note

Matsumoto Castle - six storeys, all constructed in wood - also known as the "Crow Castle" because of its black exterior, is one of Japan's premier historic castles. The origins go back to the Sengoku period and the first fort on the site was established in 1504. It is listed as a National Treasure of Japan. I visited this place during the nasami festival, on a warm spring day, with blue skies and light clouds rolling in from the Japaneze Alps. It was just such a great day.
