Tokyo - Senso-ji Temple

Previously I have posted a picture of the Senso-ji Temple in Tokyo. Here two other pictures but from another building in the large temple complex.

Senso-ji is the oldest and a very popular temple in Tokyo.
It has been built in the 7th century (from 628 till 645).

In the year 628 two brothers fished a statue of Kannon, the goddess of mercy, out of the Sumida River in Asakusa and even though they put the statue back into the river, it always returned to them.
So near the river this temple has been built for the goddess of Kannon.
It’s also famous for its Kaminari-mon Gate (Thunder Gate), where a giant lantern hangs.

More information of the Senso-ji Temple can be found on : http://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3001.html

Have also a look in the workshop.
