Photographer's Note
Nara is famous not only for its shrines and temples but also for its numerous Sika deer. once sacred, they lost this status after WW II and are now considered National Treasure. the Nara Sika deer are very friendly but constantly in search for food - unlike in Miyajima, where it's forbidden to feed the local deer, in Nara it's possible to buy crackers to feed them - don't you try to eat them, like I saw some tourists doing...

Hello Cristina,
So now they have also started deer cafés in Japan :-). This is a remarkable situation of a kind I have probably not seen before, rather touching but not quite natural for most deers. I like the interaction beyween the boy and the deer, but I guess a lot of animals are ready for interaction as long as they know they will be fed.
Kind regards,
Gert

Ciao Cristina. These deer can be quite pushy and don't seem to take no for an answer.Good shot that fits nicely with your heading. It's also fitting that it's deer and schoolboy, since both are everywhere in Nara.I wish you a happy and healthy 2011, filed with great opportunities for adventure for you and your camera. Excellent composition, perfect presentation.

Interesting note, lovely pose of both.
Could it be possible to have a lower angle with both models' reflection son the glass?
TFS.

A nicely caught moment Cristina - and quite a surprise to see ! Such closeness to a human being seems so unusual to me (who was trying to get close to a white deer just a few weeks ago in the snow)......the moment of interaction is lovely!

Hi Cristina,
A beautiful little shot. There is a simple tendernes here I feel. The B&W, as usual, brings forth the expression. The quality is great. The Nikon seems to do a great job here, so maybe I should play with mine more, as thus far it's results have been poor. Perhaps I need a prime lens. :)
This is simple and of great qaulity.
Best wishes over the festive season to you and your loved ones,
Cheers
Justin

Buon anno a te!

Ciao Cris,
Molto sorpredente e immaginabile in Francia.
Buon anno 2011 Cris !!
