Tokyo - Festival of Flowers at Zōjō-ji Temple

With these 3 pictures I go back to the Zōjō-ji Temple and the Festival of Flowers.

I had decided to visit this temple without knowing that the same day something special was celebrated.
All the attendees in the temple and in its garden were very busy and all attention was paid to small children in colourful attire.

Later Takero explained me that Buddha's birth was celebrated and on that occasion the Zōjō-ji Temple held the ‘Hana Matsuri’ or 'Festival of Flowers'.

During the festival, small shrines decorated with flowers and a baby Buddha figurine bathed in sweet tea are displayed in front of temples.
Another symbol of Hana Matsuri is the parade with children in fancy clothes pulling a papier-mâché white elephant.

The information comes from Takero Kawabata and from : http://gvlt.wordpress.com/2014/06/20/hana-matsuri-at-zojo-ji/
