Fisherman in Muang Noi, a photo from Louangphabang, North

Photographer's Note

This shot was taken during a one week stay in Muang Noi, which is a small town north of Luang Prabang only accessible by boat. Electricity is only available 3 hours a day but it was so great staying there a week , observing the daily life of the people like this fisherman. He was really concentrated reparing is fish net. This shot was taken by my friend.

A good photograph of daily life, Xavier. The lighting is nice for the net, the man and the background. I know from the workshops that you have done that you are not averse to cropping, so I thought that you would not mind my attempting a crop of this.

Really good, clear photo. Perfect 'daily life' shot. Great colours. I think Martin's workshop is spot on...

Magnificient colors and appealing light.

I first wondered if the right part shouldn't be cropped off a little bit but that's not so disturbing. It will strengthen our focus on the net which is a strong node of the picture.

Still, the format you chose is interesting too as it includes some informative elements of his everyday life.

First thing I was going to write, Martin made it through a WS.

That's an excellent natural pic, but I'm biased and sensitive on the subject of fisherman and nets.

In fact and at second sight, I think it only needs to clone out the blue chair on the bottom left, the plastic sheets and the protruding bright shelf on the upper right corner. The orange juice bottles match the warm colors of this scene, they add context and more natural flavor to the scene, incidentally they're also closing nicely the reading of the picture.

Great shot of daily life. I don't know what to choose : the original pic or one of both WS. I think all are different buit I like the WS from Luko.
