To me this is a beautiful photograph. Taken at a local school surrounding Luang Prabang, I like the this photo because it has an extremely natural feel to it; the simple wooden benches, coupled with the natural colour shirts, and the childrens beautiful brown skin - the different shades of brown and white I think come together very nicely.

I find it particularly interesting that every childs attention is focussed directly on the camera - all except the one boy holding the green pen in the back row, who is so intently focussed on what he is writing. I'm fascinated that his unbreakable concentration is derived from the only 'western' influence to be seen in the photo - the green pen! This is how I arrived at the title, "The Undistracted Child".

It reminds me somehow of a movie I saw many years ago called The Gods Must Be Crazy!
