Photographer's Note
This is one of the jetties at the Kampung Patau-Patau water village on Labuan Island. The residents are mainly Brunei Malay.
The jetties are connected by a maze of walkways to the wooden houses which are built on stilts over the water. Almost every house has its own boat. The houses can be quite large and they all have a cool verandah in front. The villages are made up of large communities with shops, mosques and other facilities.
In the distance and within Labuan harbour several red oil rig service vessels can be seen. These vessels are vital to the work carried out on the many offshore oil and gas rigs in the area.

Hi Marlene
An appealing image of this stilt village, with shimmering water, well rendered sky, and nice touches of colours blue and red. I can remember places like this from a trip along the east Malaysian coast from south to north in 1983. I found the area very easy going and peaceful.
Regards,
Andrew

Hi Marlene,
Indeed a different way of living! At least the ventilation seems to be very good here! A well composed view according to the rule of thirds but also with very fine colours.
Kind regards

Hello Marlene,
It is a great shot of these structures. Good colors and sharpness too. I especially like the contrast of blues. Those puffy clouds are wonderful.
Kind regards,

Hi Marlene,
Thought multy types of industries are success to increase their incomes, very different with some other villages on water at Borneo, some big ships are visible in the depth, good frame to the wide seascape, relaxing view in a sunny day, thanks for sharing.

Hi Marlene,
Nice the view of the wooden jetties at the water village on Labuan Island. The construction looks new and still built, seeing the wooden poles to lean on the jetty.I like the colour and light management, as this daily snapshot of the village.
Have a nice weekend,Danos
