Photographer's Note
Once you have made it to the 4095.2m summit of Mt Kinabalu you still have a 8.72km descent ahead of you.
The first part of the descent is down the open granite rockface and it is vital that you stay next to the ever-present white rope. During the pre-dawn ascent you will have needed the rope to literally pull yourself up some of the very steep and potentially treacherous areas. When descending the white rope marks the safe route down the mountain.

Magnificent Marlene
How did he who isn't keen on climbs (if I remember correctly) go on the climb - is that his back?
Great composition and great work on the clouds which add to the photo.
cheers

Hi Marlene,
This really looks like a picture from the top of the world, high above the clouds! You clearly convey the cold and inhospitable surrounding her. The red anorak adds some nice touch to the view as well.
Kind regards

Hello Marlene,
This is a very fine composition and a marvellous view. One person in the foreground, the rope and the distant group of people creating depth, and the stunning contrast between the dark rock and the blueish clods. I watch this wondering whether the clouds are above or below you. A remarkable view.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Marlene, The shot sounds like man has found another earth above the clouds and is descending to the edges to a secret path leading to real earth. wonderful shot.

Hi Marlene
I was there last year, but didn't do the climb. Must get back and make the effort one day. Great view of the top of the world.

so fabulous! breathtaking!
I hope to climb it on February.
Do you think it is possible to enter alone, without a tour guide or it is compulsory? ;/
best regards, Beata

Hi Marlene,
Wow, you don't stay idle for long, great to see that after the Everest trek you have decided to do this classic climb. It is a peak up on my list of must do walks. This shows a view with granite rock very similar to that which we can see locally at Girraween National Park, it looks a lot like Bald Rock. The inclusion of people at differing distances shows the huge magnitude of the place. The ocean of cloud beyond looks calm and dreamlike. I am sure altitude sickness would strike more so on this steeper climb when compared with the Nepal trek? Great presentation, and liking your frame/title combo a lot. TFS.

Hello Marlene,
Beautiful capture, this photo has a little bit strange perspective that we have an illusion of looking up or looking down.
It seems very pleasant to walk above the clouds.
Regards, Hisashi
