Photographer's Note

Right before sunset in Alor Seribong, a small paddy farmer village about 30 km from Alor Star, I discovered the slow moving Jewel Bug. This shield-backed bug is a plant sucker. It can be distinguished from other bugs by its scutellum (the third of the four pieces forming the upper part of a thoracic segment of an insect) completely covered the whole abdomen and wings. A really colorful fellow.
