The rascals, a photo from Mandalay, North

Photographer's Note

Rascals or street kids, these two brothers lived around the Pyin Oo Lwin railway station. Armed with catapults and a sack of seeds they were having great fun shooting at the crows and dogs. Luckily their shot was not so good. We were not taking a train but cycling around the city and stopped at the station for shade and a drink. As we drank our soya milk from a packet, you could almost see the dribble from the boys mouth. So back to the shop for a another two and a few bananas.

Hello Elaine,
I have a feeling that not many foreigners had used this rest room for a while. I also wonder how successful the ambitions to create a smoke free city were. Certainly the naughty but cute two boys are the main reason to enjoy this photo, but signs like those also interest me. They provide so much local colour.

Yes, these young rascals are pretty cute. It is interesting that they have special restrooms for foreigners. (Or, does rest room mean something else there?)

How sad to see such young children wandering the streets, dirty and safe with hunger, they have a beautiful expression, especially the youngest. The rest room has an uninviting appearance.

Hello Elaine,
These sweet innocent boys, just having a bit of fun and very hungry so its seems. As rascal as they are, they still know how to behave in front of the camera, like the smiling one but the other one ..... that's I think has to be 'watched out' :-)
Foreigner Rest Room, I do believe that it's meant - 'Waiting Room'. At first, I though Rest Room or Restroom is a Toilet.
Whatever, it's a very interesting photo taken from a railway station.

An excellent capture of an eye-grabbing 'sign board' as an interesting starting point which eventually rests the eye on the happy 'rascals' who were waiting for you to catch up!

nice capture of the two children next to the toilets specially intended for foreigners. I suppose this may be the case in the pandemic times as well that people from outside may be asked to use different facilities.
