The killer glance...., a photo from Mandalay, North

Photographer's Note

This girl was part in a novice ordination ceremony in a small central Myanmar village we went through by car... The people there were very surprised to see camera holding foreigners, but behind the killer glance, the legendary Burmese smiles are never too far away...

Cette jeune fille fait partie de cette cérémonie d'intronisation de jeunes novices dans un village du centre de la Birmanie que nous avons traversé en voiture.. Les gens n'y sont pas habitués a voir des étrangers, mais derričre le regard qui tue, le fameux sourire Birman n'est jamais vraiment loin...

Quel bon portrait avec accessoires. La lumičre est excellente. C'est trčs net et bien composé. Une prise faite tout proche du sujet ŕ sa hauteur particuličrement réussie.

Hello Laurent,

Indeed, a killer glance! She is trained well to be able to present the reproachful smile at so young an age. I remember the earlier photograph from May 20, but this one with the umbrellas and a more scornful expression is, I believe, much more compelling. The portrait is excellent.

Hello, Laurent -

Such an adult glance from such a child! Doesn't quite follow Bulent's rule of portraits (eye near the center line), but that's OK, because the parasol fills it out, and the negative space to the left of the parasol in effect shifts the center. Great light control, too.

A great portrait - this looks more set up than it turns out to be! I like the light and contrast, and the purple behind her head is quite effective.

Just wonderful colors you have captured here...just really very nice. From the lavendar on her parasol to the dark green/blue blouse and deep pink on her lips...it really makes for a stunning combination. And her glance with the soft yellow thanaka really finishes the photo! A wonderful shot!

Outre les qualités indéniables et surtout cette magnifique lumičre qui illumine le portrait de cette jeune fille, c'est l'expression de ses yeux qui fait une bonne partie de la photo, comme tu dis c'est le regard qui tue... Le piqué de l'image est assez exceptionnel, j'aime beaucoup.

Ça c'est vraiment un super portrait... Je suis vraiment impressionné!

Le regard est en effet direct et sans détour, mais c'est l'ensemble de ta photo qui tape dans l'oeil!... Les couleurs sobres mais vibrantes, la lumičre splendidement chaude et surtout, ton excellent cadrage...

Ça vaut un détour dans mes favoris!

P.S.: Pendant que j'étais ŕ Berlin, j'écoutais un reportage sur Arte, oů l'on présentait des occidentaux qui ont élu domicile ŕ Goa depuis les années 70... Évidemment, j'ai pensé ŕ vous deux, mais les personnages qu'on présentait étaient vraiment haut en couleurs... :-P) Je me suis dit que vous les connaissiez sans doute; il y avait une française qui faisait des fringues et qui les vendait au marché, de męme qu'un allemand qui avait démarré la premičre "German Bakery", pour faire du pain, inexistant en Inde avant son arrivée (selon lui...).
