Goodbye restaurant, a photo from Sagaing, North

A few years ago when we visited Monywa, opposite our hotel (the Win Unity) was an island and perched on this island was a small local restaurant selling really good food and cold beers. Each evening we strolled across the road at sunset drank a cold Myanmar beer while watching the lake turn pink and the birds settling down for the night.
This January, we stayed once again in the Win Unity, but on the island opposite our restaurant had gone and a new temple complex had appeared. No cold beers but the views at sunset were still worth the stroll.

Hello Elaine,
There is nothing wrong with beautiful temples, especially not if they are as nicely reflected in a calm lake as this one. But not being able to enjoy a cold beer in the evening sounds like a tragic loss. However, the photo is nice and the light creates a fine atmosphere.

This new temple complex does look 'old' from the viewpoint - thanks to your info note, and really love its stillness, calm water and its mirror reflections. This shot is aided by low warm light before nightfall and the slight haze certainly adds that special atmosphere....

I wonder why they decided to remove the restaurant!
Especially if it was so good and popular!
Though we cannot view the restaurant, we can appreciate the view of the lake at evening time. The sort light and the mirror-sharp reflections are immediately evident!
You have captured a lovely, tranquil mood.

Hello Elaine, the evening light seems to emphasise the gold decoration and the white of the stone.
It is a very calm scene, the reflection is perfect.
What a shame that the restaurant was no longer there.

Hello Elaine, Interesting that you stayed more days in the same place in Monywa. Usually, I change the place every day. Always in a hurry. Amazing that this complex is new. No beer, but what a wonderful view with the reflections. Marvellous light.
