Photographer's Note

Monks in Burma come in every kind and type imaginable given that virtually every young man will spend some time in a monastery. Collecting alm is a religious tradition and only routine formality.

Just a simple street shot showing a smallest glimpse of everyday life, in Anawratha Road downtown Rangoon.

Setting: 70 mm, 1/350 sec, F5.6, ISO Raw 200, 1715 hrs, Polarised

A good portrait of this monk in a good vertical composition. The red colour of this clothes is very attractive and even more so in this warm sunlight, which also cast his long shadow onto the background.

I like the sideways glance to the left that the novice monk is giving. Good colour, sharpness and framing. The lighting from the front has given long shadows at the back. Tfs!

A street shot which reveals an 'everyday scene' in Rangoon but a quite 'different scene' for us, in the west!
The close up of the monk, in his vibrantly coloured cloak, is sharp and oozing textural details!
I like how his shadow draws us into the b/g.
