~ darkness falls ~, a photo from Bagmati, Central

Photographer's Note

This was taken at Sauraha looking across a calm Rapti River and it had been a very dull greyish late afternoon as the boat was returning ashore with loads of passengers. I just loved the way that the dipping red dot covered by the slight mist, had such wondrous depth and colour, serving as a focus, I guess.

It was straight out of the camera, silence too was enjoyable here and I hope I've gone some ways in capturing the atmosphere.

Setting: 24 mm, 1/60 sec, F8, ISO Raw 200, 1743 hrs

I like the almost monochrome feel of the setting Sun, which is bearly visible above the trees. The man in the boat are a nice addition.

A wonderful and calm view across the water with the pinkish sun still just above the line of trees. The small boat is very well included in the right hand side of the composition as well.

I would not be putting my hand in the water on account of the marsh muggers, as locals called the crocodiles that inhabit the Raptis River. But a lovely sunset with good sharpness and soft pastel colours. Tfs!
