Hello Artesia,
I love your name, Artesia, very beautiful.
I miss you GMD shot, but it never too late, at least it put me in good mood today. Thanks.
This absolutely cute and funny, lol. I reminded me of my older brother doing that to me when I was little. Sometime it is annoying but sometimes it can be fun.
Thanks for the laugh.
Way

Fantastic capture!
One of those rare candid opportunities as I love to have.
The face of the boy on the left has the look of a little rascal, ready to play tricks to his friends, any time he can.
I also like the nice "Bokeh" (blurred background) that does a great job isolating our two little actors; due to the wide aperture you chose (f5.6)
The only thing you will have to remember is to use the lowest ISO possible, because it will give you the best image quality. 400 ISO is still acceptable on the D80, but a lower ISO is even better quality.
Here you had 400 ISO, but you had plenty of light, since the shutter speed was at 1/800 sec.
By reducing your ISO to 100, it would be 2 stops that would need to be "regained", by either a wider aperture, or by increasing the time of exposure.
So here, a speed of 1/200th (two stops slower) would be used by the camera… plenty fast for this scene.
When you double the ISO, it is equivalent to one f stop. Same as you half the shutter time or change your aperture by one f stop wider.
ISO: 100, 200, 400, 800, 1600, 3200, are each a change of one stop
Same as your shutter speed will be equivalent to one stop, every time you double the time:
1/2000, 1/1000, 1/ 500, 1/ 250, 1/125, 1/60, 1/30, 1/15, 1/8, 1/4, 1/2, 1sec etc…
Or a wider aperture changing from:
f32, f22, f16, f11, f8, f11, f5.6 , f4, f2.8, f2, f 1.4
All tree settings are contributing to decide your exposure.
When you double your ISO, the sensor becomes more sensitive to light, so you have to compensate with either a shorter exposure time or an aperture that lets less light to reach the sensor.
Fortunately Nikon has a great feature, that Canon only introduced in their last tree cameras (5D markII, 7D and 550D), but the D80 already had this: Auto ISO
This is a setting I use when I travel and get ready for candid shots, like this picture.
I will give you more info soon, because I have reached the 3000 characters allowed for critiques...
Michel
