Photographer's Note
Taken as we were leaving the Khumbu valley, after our views of Everest. Everything that enters the Khumbu valley is either on the back of a porter, a Yak, or in the belly of a helicopter.
Here is an image of the former. We saw some crazy things being carried and some crazy amounts as well. Porters in the Himalaya can carry more than their bodyweight... an average load is 130%!
Not for me... my camera and tripod were enough.

Dear Dan,
Nice image, the Ama Dablan in the background is majestuous and your story tells how hard it is to live in the mountains.
TFS, regards

Great shot for a great place. It's amazing to see this Sherpa with his load. 1.3 times their weight, did you say ?
Light is well managed, as well for DOF and contrasts. I like the colors and the beautiful textures of rocks, and most of all, the view on the mythic background summit... Thanks for sharing this outstanding picture !

Hello Dan
A great photo of an over-burdened porter and Ama Dablam. This pov gives many details of the trek to Everest Base Camp. I have recently walked up those steps. Tfs, Marlene
