Photographer's Note
A series of prayer wheels along the walls on the northern side of the Jharkot Monastery and the pagoda, held up by support from all sides. The walls are made of mud and in such fierce and tough weather conditions, they are falling apart.
Since the building of the new Monastery, this old, historically significant mud baked Gompa has been left un-cared for, and in ruins.Broken down, dilapidated, facing the wrath of nature.
Not all the wheels turn, and I stopped trying to spin some of them, fearing that they may simply come off the hinges and sockets.
Dzar (Jharkot) was the leading village having a
fortress and monastery, guarding the six villages along Dzong Chu at the south. The Six villages are Kheng-Khar, Dzar and Purrang on the left
bank(south) and Chhenkor, Dzong and Puttra on the right (north). These villages were once called "Dar-rDzong-yul-drug" as a community. The fort
of Dzar is now almost ruined except a few rooms being used by villagers.
The monastery was founded in Kagyu-pa (tib.:bKa'-brgyud-pa) order in the middle of 15th century, Deities of the main hall are Sakyamuni, SakyaPandita
(tib.:Sa-skya pandita) and Gorchen-Kunga-Sand-po (tib.:Ngor-chen Kun-dga'-bzan-po) protected by glass plates. Images of Sakyamuni, Sixteen arhats,
Three Times of Buddhas, Mahavairocana, Amitaba, Avarokitesvara with four arms, and Four Guardians are on the walls, repainted in 1950's.

Hello Arunava
A great document of a time long gone by from this abandoned monastery in an impressive setting among the high mountains. A pity it falls in ruins really but such is the flow of time.
have a great time

Hello dear Arunava, This old temple is in ruin, what a pity. On the other hand, so picturesque and attractive for photographers. It looks remote and wild place. I like praying wheels and stones. great shot.

Hello Arunava,
I like the point of view and the use of the walls to guide us toward the pagoda. The beautiful sky makes a fine backdrop for the ruined temple that has a palpable air of sadness about it. Very good technical realisation. Interesting and informative explanatory note.

Hello Arunava,
You show us a very well contrast picture with the wall in big stones, also the part of the monastery.
You choose a very well angle with the castle in background.
Wonderful captured, lovely presentation too.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice new week,
John.

Hello Arunava,
Your essay puts the sorry state of the monastery in perspective, the mud brick walls, holding the prayer wheels about to collapse. Of course, for me it is the mountainous setting, the massive chain of the Himalayas that captures the eye. Excellent colors and depth of field,
Have a good Sunday,
Bulent

Ciao Arunava
bella la prospettiva del muro e ottimo cielo blu, perfetto per contrastare la parte scura della foto.

Hi Arunava,
That is one epic rolling cloud coming over the mountain, and what a fine scene it's entering with the great buildings in foreground. Excellent composition too, the wall on the left leads beautifully into the shot and the temple on the right is in the perfect place, breaking into the calm spot of the sky. Amazing to hear this place of prayer is abandoned, it looks I'm in good condition. Well done to document this so well before nature does indeed claim it back.
Cheers
Noel
