Photographer's Note
A sunny autumn afternoon in Kagbeni, the small flat roofed village deep into the north western Himalayas, that merges with the Tibetan landscape, not just by its geographical similarity with this region, but also by its cultural & religious attachment to Tibetan Buddhism.
Kagbeni is at the junction of two very important trekking trails. The trail that you see as a fine line on the huge mountain wall opposite the Kagbeni village and the Kali Gandaki river leads northwards to Lo Mathang via Chusang. The other trail that goes east towards Muktinath and Thorung La is where I am standing now.
Lo Manthang was the walled capital of the Kingdom of Lo from its founding in 1380 by Ame Pal who oversaw construction of the city wall and many of the still-standing structures. After the Shahs of Gorkha forged Nepal out of numerous petty kingdoms in the 18th century, Lo became a dependency but kept its hereditary rulers. This arrangement continued as long as Nepal remained a kingdom, until republican government began in 2008 and Jigme Dorje Palbar Bista (born c. 1933) lost his title.

Hello Arunava,
This is an amazing view and you have composed and exposed the photo very well by using the contrasts between the sunny plain and the shady mountainside. The effect is marvellous.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Arunava
You presented a fine Himalayan panorama here with the layers of colour, great depth and perspective. The DOF is excellent and let one enjoy clarity and sharpness from the foreground up to the backdrop. Well done! Congrats
Best regards

Ciao Arunava
il paesaggio č molto particolare e bello, diverso da quelli cui sono abituato, la grande montagna a ridosso del villaggio mi incute un po' di timore.
Saluti

Namaskar dear Arunava
The light bouncing off the rock face is really beautiful and has been captured so well, as have the warm colours in the foreground. Excellent details, although it seems a little over-sharpened.
Well done, thanks for sharing
