‘Pokhara - Phewa Lake near Pokhara’

While the old town is the commercial hub of Pokhara the Lakeside district attracts most tourists.
The boats in different colours on Phewa Lake are a rewarding subject for many photographers.
Of course I also wanted my version of these scenes.

Moreover, every visitor dreams of seeing the mountains of the Annapurna Range reflected in the lake.
However, to realise this is a different matter.
Notwithstanding the fact that every travel guide shows photos in which the white peaks are perfectly reflected in the completely calm water, you’re less likely to have such views.
Similar photos can be found in every travel agency in Pokhara and along the lake shore vendors sell large posters with those wonderful perfect reflections.

I was told that the weather conditions to take such photos are limited to just a few days a year.
In the note of one of my previous photos I wrote that many sources of information indicate the months of March, April, October and November as the ideal time to visit Nepal. Then it would not be too cold or rainy.
The so-called best travel period, however, is based on the experiences of tourists who make trekking in Nepal, such as the Annapurna Circuit, the Everest or the Langtang trekking.
Trekkings are, of course, made at higher altitudes and the experiences there aren’t necessarily the same as those of tourists in Pokhara or Kathmandu.

I know someone who visited Pokhara and Kathmandu Valley in April and she had never seen a snowy peak because of the hazy skies in spring.
I was a bit more lucky in November. In the early morning (between 6 am and 9 am) you had the best chance to see the mountain peaks from the shores of the lake. There was also one afternoon when the clouds opened and you could see certain peaks.
Judging by photos on this site, I get the impression that the period December-February gives more clear views. However, that’s winter in Nepal and not food for someone like me who likes summer very much.

Only one advice for first-time visitors to Nepal:
Don't expect too much to see the photos found on internet or in travel guides …
and on the Phewa Lake, focus on the colourful boats :)
