In the Limelight, a photo from Pyongyang-si, North

Photographer's Note

Taken during a performance in Mangyongdae School Children Palace where children spend time pursuing extra-curricular activities.
I have many images from that show with the "real" violinist but this one is emblematic of my whole stay in North Korea. It's a tribute to the people I met there and am unlikely to ever see or hear from again.

Really brilliant image, Kasia - nice simple color arrangement, and her shadow in baby blue is fantastic. I'm sure the violinist made a good subject, but the symbolism here is very well thought out and very nicely executed.

Witaj Kasiu, bardzo ciekawe zdjęcie tej skrzypaczki za kotarą, Jeszcze ciekawsze miejsce, gdzie je zrobiłaś. Północna Korea!! Jak sie tam znalazłaś? Wczoraj były zdjęcia nocnych świateł na Ziemi (z kosmosu). W Korei bylo zupełnie ciemno.

Hello Kasia,
This is an excellently composed photo, probably much better than one of the "real" violinist. The pink and blue combination is quite refined. Yes, this should be emblematic of your journey. I think what foreigners ever see in North Korea is just a show, and a shadow of real life.

you have spotted this opportunity and composed this perfectly. the colours are very appeaaling and warm. the shadow of the girl on the curtain is a wonderful image, and gives a sense of mystery to the picture as we cannot see the actual person.

Hello Kasia,
This photo is simple, yet very beautiful and emotional. I am sure the music was lovely, but also sad in a way. Reading the book "Nothing to Envy" about life in North Korea, made a strong impression on me. I wish a better life for this child, and everyone in that country. Have you read that book? If not, I strongly recommend it. The author is Barbara Demick.

A great shot with the violinist`s sillhouhette in this pink circle.Great contrast between pink and blue and nice graphism with the vertical lines of shadows at the curtain.
The golden light under the curtain on the left side works perfect for the balance of this great shot!!!
Very well seen and managed!!!!
