In the joint family system of rural 'Pakistan Grandmother' is the most respectable and most looked after member of the family who can guide her younger siblings to the ups and downs of the socity in every day life. An Old women along with her daughter in law and grand children looks into the camera with all the experiences of her life reflecting from her eyes.

beautiful portrait, love her intense look. i also like how you've included other women in the background, that goes well with your note. the only thing i'm not too sure is the sharpening, may be a bit too much for my taste as far as portraits are concerned. on the other hand - i can see that it brings out all the fine lines on her face and that, again, relates to your story. nice shot anyway.

Hi Rubi,
Welcome on TE, although i see that you already been a month active in collecting favorites. Your first post is a real good one with excellent focus, and a very, very sharp picture. Can you tell us some camera and lens details, always nice to read such info.
Composition and framing is wonderful, just as the blur to the woman in the background.
A great shot, hope to see more of these good photographs from you.

Great picture. It is true, her life seems reflected in her eyes. Very well done, I think. Your pov was good and your pp work did a fantastic job of making her stand out from the background. Congratulations :D

the moment of truth has finally come:)

and it is the perfect photo to start from.
colours,her expressions(rather empty eyes)and DOF are the key of picture.
well joint family system is about to die,losing significance in Pakistan. now there are two school of thoughts one who leave their family after marriage because they dont want to end up their relation/family on fight and others continue to live togather with their family.. now who is right and whoz wrong????

Beautiful exposure on her face and the orange part of her scarf. I like that there's a slight overexposure on the white part, as it really helps frame her face, which is full of character. Also good is the inclusion of the other members of her family, not as in focus, which reinforces your point about her importance. Very nicely done!

Hi Rubi,

This is such a powerful image. your composition of the womans face is spot on. shallow dof keeps your attention on the main subject. the image is well sharpened but there is noise in the background which is effective. the colours are crisp. maybe a little bit of her head scarf is blown and could have done with maintaining the texture of the material. there is a small amount of colour fringing on the reflective object behind the woman with the black head scarf.

absolutely well done.

Marvelous image, the wrinkles on the face of this woman depicts years of labour and hardwork. It touches deep in your heart that u can see the her face but u can not do anything good for her. Once again it is a glorious photog.

The finishing of your photo is also very excellent, every details on her face is noticed with a 6 by 6 sharpness.

Hello Rubi. First once I would like to say that your profiles photo pleases me well. The same applies also to your first photo on Trekearth. It is a very strong photo with intensive colors. In the profile one sees three younger women and then the FACE of an older woman. One can read off the decades of the life. The view of this woman is direct and intensive.
