Bridge over the frozen river, a photo from Moscow, Center

Photographer's Note

The old style Patriarchy Bridge over the Moscow-River (Moskva-Reka) was built in August 2004 and presently spans the Moscow River between the majestic Cathedral of Christ the Savior and Bersenevskaya Naberezhnaya.
The artistic decoration of the Bridge was provided by Russian Academy of Arts Professional Artistic Centre of Zurab Tsereteli and it is geometrically tied to the famous cathedral. The nicely made illumination, beautiful old style architecture and excellent location for viewing Moscow Kremlin, monument of Peter The Great and, of course, cathedral of Christ the Savior attract a lot of tourists at day or night time.

I took this picture at one early morning at the beginning of the New Year. I had to wake up very early that morning to see off my clients to the airport (back to US) and then I decided to make photo shooting at sunrise It is not snow for a while in Moscow, but pretty cold during the first days of the new 2008 year (those night was about 16 C). When I was out of my car to try to take good pictures my fingers and feet were almost frozen as like the Moscow-River on the picture :-), but I was awarded several great pictures and one of them you can see already now.

privet arthur, what a wonderful scene again! :-) the cathedral is really one of the nicest photo-opportunities, too bad i did not
go there during the night. the light and reflections are amazing, and the frozen moskwa, cool, or cold, jeez, we have +10°C here
at the moment. well seen & captured, thor.

amazing shot, Artur, your suffering in that cold was wll worth it - the photo is perfect. I like a lot how the composition you've chosen leads the eye along the bridge towards the cathedral. beautiful colours too. the contrast between the dark blue sky and shadows and silver and golden lights creates a very elegant and even regal scene. excellent work.

Hello Arthur,
you've been blessed by hat cold with this amazing compo! It is indeed a stunning night architectural shot with the bridge leading the eye to the main focal point of the pic..the Cathedral.
The reflections on the almost frozen river are simply beautiful adding a great feeling to the whole lot!
Quality is excellent throughout with beautiful details!

Great night shot! The lighting and exposure is just right, and the line of lights on the bridge gives this a real sense of direction. One thing that I like a lot is the slight coating of snow on the icy river. Beautiful shot!

Excellent night photo, - to tell you the truth I am not so enthusiastic about this building by daylight but here it looks wonderful ! It's also true that I saw it when the construction was just completed and the bridge was not there yet, therefore the photo has a special interest to me - and like on your previous photo, I admire the technique !

Lovely blue hour shot which was worth getting cold to take. The details of the bridge are impressive and even more so thanks to the long exposure. The cathedral is very imposing and I like the reflections on the ice.

Wonderful phoo Arthur, this has very nice ligth and exposure for the blue-hour. The composition is nice with the bridge in front leading to the church. The semi-frozen river is a plus.
