Photographer's Note
This monastery is located in front Kotorosl river, it is surrounded by ramparts and used as a fort during medieval times.
When I entered I found a simple lady in the ticket office, there was a list of monuments inside and , as usual in Russian monuments, they sell parts, not the whole place. The girl wasn't able to speak in English and showed me a poster I couldn't understand. She sold me a simple ticket, but I had to come back six times to get other tickets because I never got to see the things I wanted and I became very furious because this.
Spasso-Preobrazhenskiy Monastery was built during 12th century, outside of the Kremlin. The area was destroyed by a fire and in 1516 it was built the Cathedral of Transfiguration of the Lord, with murals from time of Ivan, the Terrible. This czar loved the place and visited it frequently. In 1609 Russia was invaded by Polish-Lithuanian troops and while the city was occupied, the monastery, as a fort, became free. In 1612 the troops of the butcher Minin and Pozharsky Prince put the city free and stay inside and went to put Moscow free while in the monastery it was the future first czar of Romanov dynasty.
During soviet times the area was restored and became a museum.
Here we can see the bell tower at right, at center the Church of Jesus Entering in Jerusalem (Yaroslavl Miracle-Workers Church) and at left Transfiguration Cathedral, the oldest church of the town.
.................

Hello Jorge,
This must have been a rich monastery long ago. It looks more like a palace. I wonder where the monks got all that money? You had another cloudy day but as usual you managed a fine and clear photo with good sharpness and colours.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Jorge,
The tight frame is putting the building in evidence. The point of view is showing the details of the Spaso-Preobrazhensky monastery. The cloudy sky is giving a good contrast to the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Jorge,
The warmer tones of the building stand out well from the white walls and the cloudy sky. The architecture is well and clearly seen from this angle. Well done.

Hi Jorge
The building seems to be from a mixture of eras and architectural styles but quite impressive. You experience must have been very frustrating. Why not just one entry charge? A good photo.
cheers

Hello Jorge,
A usual story about the rude woman in the ticket office and the furious foreigner :). The whole complex is a museum with the main part of the cathedral and the additional temporary exhibitions. Were there no pictures in the poster? I was only inside the cathedral. Funny that it is closed on Tuesday, Wednesday and on rainy days. Nice classic facade with the stairs.
I have that in the middle is Built onto the Transfiguration of the Saviour Cathedral is the Yaroslavl Miracle-Workers Church which is dedicated to Prince Fyodor of Yaroslavl and his sons David and Konstantin. All three have since been canonised and are considered local saints of Yaroslavl. The church was built between 1827 and 1831 in the classical style and its front is decorated with six columns.

Bonjour, cher Jorge,

Hello Jorge,
What a frustrating experience!
You would imagine that one ticket would enable you enter and see all the things on display.
You did, however, manage to get a fine sharp photograph from the outside, which was free.
I think you have positioned yourself well to make the symmetrical steps a main feature but with good details of the old cathedral and bell tower either side.
I just could not resist removing the intruding building on the right in a w/s. I hope you approve.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Hi Jorge,
beautiful architecture, this is a must-see place in Russia.
Interesting to see the Geek style central part of the church, it is attractive but it somehow does not go with the rest of the church, as if coming from a different period of time.
Your reportage certainly encourages to visit Yaroslavl,
Very well done,
M

Hola Jorge.
Me gusta
Que disfrutes de un buen dia.
Saludos muy cordiales.
Luis.
