Photographer's Note

The latest shot from today's victory parade in St. Petersburg. The 9th of May is the local holiday in memory of the end of the second World War (although I was of the opinion it was on the 8th?). All the veterans take part in a large parade on the Nevsky Propekt and I literally happened to run into it, not knowing prior to today that there will be such an event. Many veterans are of course decorated with masses of medals but I liked the "veterankas" (no idea what the Russian name could be) in the Rikschas most. Especially the one at the front of the photo was dressed in such colourful clothes and with her flowers in her hair reminded me somewhat of a 70s hippie. Actually I saw the Rikscha drivers for the first time some days ago and think this is a really nice idea!
