BAIKAL PANORAMA, a photo from Irkutsk, East Siberia

Photographer's Note

Here I was in the same spot of the previous photo. There is a high edge of the lake at this area and it is like a sacred place and a tourist are at same time. Behind me it was the small Khuzhir city.
You can see the same landscape I showed before in the right side and the Shaman Rock at left.
As I told you before, I and the Chinese girl were waiting for sunset in the area.

Aqui eu estava no mesmo local da foto anterior.
Há uma borda mais alta junto ao lago e ela é como uma mistura de local sagrado e ponto turístico. Atrás de mim estava a cidadezinha de Khuzhir.
Podem ver a mesma paisagem da foto anterior no canto direito dessa foto enquanto a famosa pedra sagrada do Shamă está visível ŕ esquerda.
Como já disse antes, eu e a garota chinesa estávamos esperando pelo pôr do sol naquele momento.

Hello Jorge,
This view is nicer than some of those you showed before. There seems to be a greater variety of natural features. It's possibly also the panoramic shape that makes me like it better, and it's certainly the two focal points in the foreground, the person and the tree, that make it more appealing to me as a composition.

Hi Jorge,

The presence of the person has an effect of scale. The length of the lake is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the scenery on the edge of the lake. Have a nice day.

Hello Jorge, an excellent panoramic shot of the lake, and even better in the large version.
In the large version we can really sense the scale of the landscape.
Good idea to include a person, it completes the composition.

Hello Jorge, I recognize this place - with the Shaman Rock and the beach on the right side. Only ONE Chinese girl? There is a real invasion of Chinese tourists.
I stayed somewhere near this place, a few minutes to the Rock, so I was there many times, for sunrise and for sunsets. I wonder where you stayed in Khuzhir. By Nikita is a nice place.

I have 1000 (thousand) pictures from Olkhon and Baikal Lakee, but I showed only 10 :(.

I confess that I always had a completely different picture of Lake Baikal and its surroundings in my mind.
Did those trees lose their leaves already that early in autumn?

Hi Jorge,
lakes are extremely difficult to photograph unless they are surrounded by mountains. But if in a flat area like here they seem so flat. And yet you managed to raise my interest in this place. I am surprised to see so few trees although there is a forest further down.
