SHAMAN ROCK, a photo from Irkutsk, East Siberia

We were waiting for sunset and walked around for many time.For some reason there was many dead pine trees, I presume they were killed by a plague or fire.
This is the most famous attraction in Baikal Lake, it is named Shaman Rock and it is a kind of sacred spot for the locals who believe in the original religion of the area. Around there are many poles with colorful ribbons that are part of the rituals of that religion.

Caminhamos ao redor enquanto esperávamos pelo pôr do sol, por alguma razăo havia muitos pinheiros mortos, creio que atingidos por alguma praga ou pelo fogo.
Essa é a maior atraçăo do Lago Baikal, a chamada "Rocha do Shamă", um local sagrado para os locais que seguem a religiăo primitiva da área. Ao redor estăo muitos postes com fitas coloridas e que fazem parte dos rituais daquela crença.

Hello Jorge,
There is a nice looking beach, but I guess the water is too cold for swimming. The rock is a good eye-catcher even apart from its position as sacred place. The light is quite nice and the photo is well exposed. I expect you to show us the poles with colourful ribbons very soon.

Hello Jorge,

You show us a very tranquil beauty spot, with the terrain guiding the eyes succinctly to the focal rock, standing out in the water. I can understand why it is so important to the locals; it is very distinctive.
The light is really soft and warm, helping to create this tranquil mood.

Hi Jorge,
the rock certainly adds a nice touch to the landscape. This place reminds me another view, maybe it was Cyprus?
I like the pastel color tones in your photos from Baikal Lake. I wonder how this place looks like in the summer.

Hello Jorge, Finally Shaman Rock, the most beautiful and famous place on the Baikal Lake. Nice composition, beautifulk view of the lake. I think that I see the poles with ribbons on the right side.
I do not remember the dead pine trees. Maybe the fires were after my visit.

Un bonito entrante que hace aqui la costa del lago, con una pequeńa playa, abajo parece que hay arboles pues asoman su copa, la gran roca en que termina esa peninsula le da caracter al lugar.
Optima gestion de la iluminacion y nitidez.

I think Malgo has once shown photos of Shaman Rock.
It doesn't look very big. At least in the whole of this wide panorama.
The vastness of the country and the tranquility that the photo exudes are impressive.
