A LOOOOOONG FAÇADE, a photo from Saint Petersburg, Northwest

Photographer's Note

I did this panoramic view showing the façade of Catherine Palace, it was modified during some occasions and some buildings were attached at left. There is a distortion in the image and you can think the façade is curved, but it is straight.
Behind me was the park, at left was the lakes and in the other side of the building there was another park.

Fiz essa vista panorâmica da fachada do Palácio de Catarina, ela foi modificada no decorrer dos anos e alguns prédios foram adicionados ŕ esquerda.
A imagem está distorcida e vocęs podem pensar que a fachada é curva, mas ela é reta.
Atrás de mim estava o parque, ŕ esquerda estavam os lagos e do outro lado do prédio há outro parque.

Hello Jorge,
It's complicated to take a photo like this and to process it, so it is heavily distorted. But we get the message: It's a very long façade and Catherine had the power and the money to have such a palace built.

Olá Jorge,
bela panorâmica aqui, e realmente ficou bem curva essa fachada. No Photoshop tem como corrigir isso, mas acho bem questionável o resultado. O que ultimamente faço nesse tipo de imagem e utilizar uma distância focal maior na lente pra acabar com a distorçăo, e tirar várias imagens, depois faço um Merge no Photoshop, o resultado fica bem melhor, mas da um pouco de trabalho.

A great castle, a great facade and a so well managed presentation photo with your so loooong facade !
Well done, this view reminds me memory of this castle seen also in winter, lovely with snow on the ground, I see that I have never presented my photo on TE, tfs.

hello Jorge, I tried to find out how long is this facade. Somewhere I have read more it is than 300 m. Good attempt to show it all :). But the distortions are big. Maybe a panorama picture would be better. On the other hand, the picture is then just the narrow stripe. difficult task.

There is a distortion of the photograph butI think we can live with that, to get the full impression of this quite amazing building!
To see it like this, is the only way to get a true impression of its immense size.

I looked at the large version, its well worth the effort to do so, it's a very crisp and clear photo. and yes, the facade is just rediculous...why build something so large! my goodness, but it comes across well in the photo. love it

Hi Jorge,
this is indeed very loooooong but thanks to your photo we can better imagine the length of the palace. The weather was but cloudy but the colors came out quite vibrant and the scene is eye catching.
I also like the green red garden in the foreground,

Missed this one. Good stitching with excellent sharpness. The maze garden adds interest. Catherine had a lot of money and power and the splurge is obvious. Tfs!
