Photographer's Note

Sobaeksan Mountain has a beautiful valley, gentle ridges, and dense forest, and many hikers. It was designated as Sobaeksan National Park in December 1987 due to its beautiful and magnificent mountains and surrounding scenic spots. It's 320.5 square kilometers.

Shortly after the Korean War (1950-1953), most of the national forests did not have any trees in the Mountains. So there were constant floods and droughts. Since the mid-1960s, South Korea has strictly banned the use of fuel for wood in the Mountains, and instead supplied coal briquettes in large quantities at low prices.
