Photographer's Note
This is the fourth shot I have submitted of people worshipping during the SARS outbreak here in Taiwan. Like the last photo, this was taken at BoAn Temple in Taipei. I realize these two photos are similar, the biggest difference being this is a male subject. I have to admit, I find people wearing the masks to be fascinating subjects, especially during worship. I will be submitting more shots of mask wearing people, but I hope my next submissions will be showing a different events. My favorite part of this shot is the earnest look in his eyes.

To me this one has the same stunning impact as number III. Clear, sharp, well balanced composition.
Very impressive and attractive image!...

Don't know how you processed the skin texture but it appears smoother than even my daughter's...
DOF and background always fantastic, and yes, his way of looking is great. The spiraling little smoke at the tip of the incense sticks is wonderful.

This one is nice as well, Darren. Your composition is good (keeping with your series of shots), everything is nice and clear and where it should be. I like how the smoke is escaping from the frame and his eyes are incredible indeed. You've managed to capture the moment, which for me is sometimes hard to do (but I'm trying to improve in this respect). But I have to ask you: how did you get the skin so smooth? As Luko said, looks like a baby, almost. Anyway, wonderful work yet again. I think you're getting better and better at shooting people...really making your shots to convey the emotions lurking inside them. Well done!

Great use of DOF, I'm also amazed at the overall smoothness. I wonder what scanner you use?

Oddly enough, he looks pregnant! Probably just well-fed. That aside, it's a nice shot, and as you say the eyes and the mask make it unusual. The skin on the arm/hand seems a bit texture-less - due to oversharpening? This is definitely a School-of-Cedarbough shot! :-).

This is great, and it's the best in the series. The focus and the DOF are perfect. Perhaps cause I live in Asia and see the skin of wellfed 20ish people often his skin doesn't look at all odd to me. Wouldn't have noticed if no one else had said anything. Eyes expression is the kicker to the shot, for sure. Wish he wasn't so pudgy, though, but that's his problem not the photos!

Just saw this one appearing in the favorites...I would like also to express my admiration for such a perfect shot. It combines a lot of qualities evoqued above regarding light, sharpness and color. I would add the meditative eye expression, the disposition of the incense sticks and the subtle smoke at the top. Very good!

I love this one. With the title you gave, the picture becomes a real witness on how people try to find another solution to the SARS problem. Back to religion... with the mask, because faith is certainly not enough.
