Photographer's Note

The City Park is one of few attractions of Khorog, alongside the botanical garden, the river walk and the bazaar. I spent three evenings there while killing time in the capital of the autonomous region of Gorno Badakhshan.

It's quite a small park, which is not really surprising, for Khorog is hardly a city (in spite of being a regional capital), just a 5 km line of houses and shops along Lenin Street, with a few side roads and a barely used airport, which is in fact an airstrip. But, regardless of the size, the park is a pleasant place, offering a few nice walks, a small pond (unfortunately already dry in October), mountain views and encounters with local people.

There isn't much of a story here I'm afraid. I could, of course, say that this image was taken after one of my trips with Tolek, following the event I referred to in my note as we almost ran over a cat but I'm not going to do it as it would be reheating old ideas from a previous post... ;-)

Two more photos of Khorog's landscapes in WS.
