Swimming Pool?, a photo from Chiang Mai, North

Photographer's Note

What a lovely town is Chiang Mai. Around the old town centre is a wide moat, broken now with causeways. Parts of it have been turned into a linear park, with pleasant paths alongside, and on the town centre side, a series of fountains. It is very clear, and there's no litter. This family, on the new year weekend, decided it would make a pretty good swimming pool, and were clearly having a very pleasant afternoon.

Hi Richard, lovely composition this way, and a good use of 'empty'space, with all the ripples on the water. It's obvious that they are having a lot of fun, and the older kids LOVE that big white man with his camera. You captured a nice moment, Richard!

It's a nice photo. With just the relaxing view of the water, the ripples create a circle around the family. What's best I thought was the different interactions going on at the same time. The excited conversation between the two in the back, the cheeky one grinning at the camera, mom playing lifting baby right in the center of the family. Well done Richard.

I really like this image Richard, even though I didn't enjoy Chiang Mai at all..

The image is well composed with the golden reflections on the top of the frame.. Really nice..

Funny perception one can have travelling. I don't know if it was because I was coming from india when I went there.. so many tourists..I have to go back there...

A very nice daily life shot, Richard. I like the way the little girl is looking at you, and the happy expression on the baby's face. I like the way you kept a large area of water, with the inteesting reflections. well seen and captured.

Very nice scene, Richard. The joy of the bathing kids is well captured, the glance of the one looking at you is particularly adorable. Also a good inclusion of the reflection in the opposite corner of the frame. Well done.

Richard: well done! This is simply a luminous picture. Let me offer a weird observation and I have no idea if it was in your mind at the time but this is a fascinating re-interpretation of a great photo by Claude (Clodreno), you know, where a turbaned Seihk (in the bottom RIGHT hand corner) faces a reflection of the Golden Temple in the top LEFT corner. Your order is reversed. Equally successful pic by the way. Splendid. Francis
