Photographer's Note

I have tried to stay away from the usual beach/sunset type shots... but today I will make an exception.

It's been 6 months since my return from the tropics and I'm in the midst of my first winter in 3 years....

This was taken during the last days of the rainy season last year on Kho Samui. The island off to the distance (where the storm cumulous clouds hover) is Kho Phangan. Storms would come and go everyday and you could never tell what the next hour would bring.

... and look what attention your exception is drawing, Alex. But quite rightly so - it's a textbook composition. I like that low horizon line with the fluffy white clouds above, and the hut below the palms in the foreground. A wonderful piece of escapism from winter.

Seems like the poster for the wall. Its a place for dream vacations. Wonderful composition. Exellent combination with cloudy sky and leafs of the palm. You must have enjoing down there.

The foundations of that house on the beach look far from safe! This is a lovely tourist shot. Yes, not so original, as you say yourself, but very much one of those pictures that make you want to head for the nearest airport.

The sky and could are the really grab for me here - lovely, deep colour. Can I suggest that you clone/crop out the offending bit of foliage in the top-middle of the frame? A minor annoyance.

These towering cumulus are on the verge of becoming cumulonimbus storm clouds. Great cloud shot set against the deep blue sky.

This is a nice beach scenery, the colors are nice and good composition. It is giving a sensation of warm when winter with snow is still here on March 2.
