here's a photo of the escalators in MBK, one of the most popular shopping malls in Bangkok. If I had a tripod I would have used a longer exposure and completely blurr the people.

You have found a nice pattern in the stairs at MBK, Sadly, however, the picture is blurred.
If you don't have a tripod, you can always jam your camera against the railings , or some other firm object. It usually works. At MBK you could have found such a place.

i love what you did here.
it would be MUCH better in focus.
but the comp is excellent!
i might have centered it a bit more from top/bottom...otherwise, it's good.

A terrific pattern shot with lots of colour and interest. The blurring of the people does detract a little but is inevitable when you have to hand hold at low speeds.
As you say, a very long exposure to blur them out completely would be better.
