Tender Love, a photo from Nan, North

Photographer's Note

Here's one of my many parent and children photos in Nan among the H'mong villagers.

I have been following this pair for quite sometime. Earlier, I took around five pictures of them but it didn't turn out right (still experimenting with my bro's D100). After the holy mass, I again followed them. THis time, it turned out quite well.

H'mongs are loving people. This is an example of this virtue. Mothers bring their kids along with them to important occassions. I guess one reason is because nobody is gonna take care of them anyway at home. Fathers are out somewhere doing something for the livelihood. I especially like the way this mother carries her kid around. She has this colorful clothing which also work as a support for the weight of the baby. What is unsual though is she's carrying her upfront. Most other mothers are carrying their kid at the back. I can see much tenderness here..so much love.

I really like your composition here. The tight crop on the left and the open space on the right works for me. Great DOF, great color. Great expressions in both faces, and I like the black frame too. Well done!

Great composition Manny. I like the focus on the baby. But what I see here is "inverted roles". The mother's quiet and candide expression while the baby seems to have a serious and mature glance...Great.

There is tenderness in this photograph and much of pride on behalf of the young mother. Catch of sight always tenderizing. Well done, Manuel.

Fantastic photo again Manuel, the baby centrum of the photo, the mother not, but they are the same, I find it very good, it's differcult to explane in English, Good job

Superb dof, but the white lint or dandruff? on the woman's black shirt is a bit distracting & the baby's eyes are a bit red. But I'm feeling generous today !

A lovely scene, Manny. I like how the two subjects are seen here - the mother in profile, her arm wrapped around the baby in a comforting and securing way. And the little one, looking into your camera with those deep dark eyes. The open space on the right is a fine balance. Very well done.

Beautiful soft tones and a soft motherly expression Manuel! I like the way she holds her left hand under her baby too, as if the shawl isn't secure enough.

We were thinking the same thing Manny. I do like how she carries the baby in the front. Usually pictures like this has the baby on the back. I like the feeling this picture convely, soft mothers love.

Yes, Manny - carrying the baby in front of her certainly is significant for the tender love they share together. The light and the face expressions are fantastic! I like it very much!
