Photographer's Note
The tsunami memorial at Kamala Beach in Phuket. Over 300,000 perished in the Boxing Day Tsunami of 26 December, 2004. Approximately 7,000 died in Thailand alone. The memorial is built over the scoured out foundations of the old Kamala Beach Hotel which was destroyed in the tsunami.
The sculpture represents the inner forces of the earth, which created the earthquake & tsunami. Kamala Beach has almost completely recovered from the disaster.

Love it Chris. The sculpture is spectacular, with such a nice graphism and it is perfect for representing the forces the earth. Your shot is beautiful, with great colors, excellent framing and may be(?) bit lower POV to make it against the sky. Tfs,

Now that's an interesting looking statue or memorial. It looks like a combination of explosive force inside and peaceful calm on the outside. I'm actually surprised that they have produced a monument this quickly. Beautiful memorial for this tragic event - thanks for sharing.

Hi Chrias,
impressive monument and a strong piece of Art. The transparancy and fragility contrast with the strong round shape.

Best regards and have a great week-end.
Daniel.

Hi Chris,
this one is remarkable by two reasons. The one is the catastrophe monument itself, well presented from you. The other one is the art, for me helpful to keep the background in mind. Both fit well. I am close to say a nice shot, but that would ignore the history.
