Photographer's Note

Just a small view of Khiva Ichan Qala, a well preserved medieval city in Central Asia and used to be a centre of Islamic learning and spirituality. It's compact ringed entirely by its ancient 10m high walls and due to its remote location makes it feel more authentic and has an incredible charm to it. The imposing Kalta Minaret and its catchy shade of jade blue, green and all the decoration seem to form into one glorious reservoir of colours...

Climbing the sixty four cockscrew steps of the truncated tower indeed is, a real test of stamina....

A different view of the Kalta Minaret to the usual ones giving it a much more human dimension. Great colour.

Hello Abmdsudi, the truncated tower is like a jewel amongst the naturally coloured stone buildings that surround it.
The people wear mainly dark clothes which makes the colours of the tower stand out even more.
Excellent composition.
