Photographer's Note
We decided to explore Sapa next and took a walk around the town and arrived at their stadium just opposite the church. One of the cutest and most cheerful kid I have seen before was with her mom sitting by the stadium. A casual chat began and my sweets was offerred. More distractions came from her friends who turned up to see what was up. So it was sweets offerred all around.
Market day on Sunday in Sapa is a good time to get up real close to the tribes. Most of them will be trotting or carrying children and of course their shopping baskets.
I was down to their eye level and only had a chance for a couple of quick shots resulting in this picture. Could not get a better DOF with the standard kit lense on my camera but I think it came out reasonably alright.

You've captured some lovely smiles in this shot, Andre, and it's a great double portrait, but it lacks sharpness. I don't think it is a problem with your DOF or standard kit lens (Canon standard lens are pretty good) - I think it is simply that you haven't sharpened it enough before posting. Have a look at the workshop and you will see what I mean. I added a little brightness and contrast, then USM at 250% and it has brought it up wonderfully (and that is just on your posted file - if you do this on your original I am sure it would look even better).
Cheers . . . David
PS: I'm one of those people who don't like angled shots unless it is is done for a special effect, so I also took the opportunity to straighten the image and crop it more closely. I think the closer cropping improves it too because there is less distraction from the background.

Hi there NG!
Really a great shot! I like their simple and happy expression. Good colours also. I guess it was worth the effort of taking many photos. This one is very nice!

Hello Andre,
very well and nicely captured double portrait shot. You've captured a fantastic smiling expression of both mom and kid. Very good sharpness and dof, good lighting and nice, well saturated colours.
Tfs and best wishes!
