Mysterious load, a photo from Limon, East

Photographer's Note

Most boats moving in Tortuguero National Park are tourism related, moving fast between different places or coasting slowly while people are spotting wildlife. But this local guy had a different boat, and paddled on without hurry. I'm not sure what he had on those bags, maybe some vegetables from small fields nearby.

haha...this guy looks exactly like a taxi driver I had in India, maybe he's travelling around haha. They almost look like Sandbags. I'm more curious about the boat, it's looking quite rustic and old, and there appears to be a tear right in the middle of it. No tourists getting in this boat! Good idea to keep the bright sun out of the frame. cheers

Hello Kari,
It looks quite remarkable that the man managed to keep this small and old boat floating. Very good capture with clear lighting and a nice, green backdrop.

Hello Kari,

We can only speculate about the contents of the sacks but it shows how well he has to distribute the weight so that his boat remains buoyant.
It is a really curious boat, almost like a canoe, very rustic and old, without pride in decoration, so your premise, that he is delivering local produce, rather than any involvement with tourism, is probably correct.
I had to smile, whilst writing this, is he the Costa Rican equivalent to fast food delivery! Sorry referring to your notes again, slow food delivery! 😆😆
It's a fine composition of horizontal layers, the focal figure, strongly placed.
