Photographer's Note
Hermitage Great House in Grenada was first purchased in 1765 by British Merchants. Eventually the plantation was used for growing sugar cane and the prosperity of its owners underpinned by using slave labour. At the back of the house is a slave pen, a dark dank place where slaves were put as punishment. Today it is gradually being destroyed by nature. What would once have been a splendid property is almost beyond repair.
Slavery enriched a few but took the lives of many.

Hello David,
Considering what this building was used for, it seems to have received the treatment it deserves. The many broken windows confirm the neglect and that the plants are not intended to be cosy. I'm surprised that you could get inside, but the WS shows the former beauty and elegance.
Best regards,
Gert

HI David,I really like abandoned houses, we relive the story of those who lived here in the past centuries by observing what remains, now everything is left to its fate, and the same plants that the owners have planted are taking over. Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hi David
This would have been a fascinating old mansion and estate to explore, given the history. 3 good photos showing how it has declined.
cheers

Hello Dedee,
Interesting note. The remnants of the dark past. I like your summary that slavery enriched a few but took the lives and brought suffering to so many. Interesting ruin.
Have a nice weekend

Hello David,
The high heat and humidity have assisted the prolific tropical plant life and its green colour contrasts well with the austere grey colour of the architecture. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hello David,
Though this building has gray color and looks abandoned, I find it attractive with its design and maybe it will be restored or renovated in future.
The climber plants added extra vivid colors to the sight.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hi David,
The sky is more resembling the UK than Grenada. I would never guess the location.
Interesting structure, a less popular sight from this destination. Sad story, also sad that what came at such high cost is not wasted.
Very well done,
M
