Photographer's Note
a view from the gardens of hotel La Casa Del Mundo over Lago de Atitlán towards Volcán San Pedro, the sun was just rising over the mountains to the left. I was hoping for dramatic sunrises and sunsets, but the whole week we spent in La Casa Del Mundo, every morning and evening was pale and hazy. still, the place is magic, if you happen to be in Guatemala, make an effort to go there and stay at least a couple of days.
Lago de Atitlán is recognized to be the deepest lake in Central America, but its bottom has not been completely sounded; estimates of its maximum depth range up to 340 meters. Aldous Huxley famously wrote of it: "Lake Como, it seems to me, touches on the limit of permissibly picturesque, but Atitlán is Como with additional embellishments of several immense volcanoes. it really is too much of a good thing."

Hi Kristine,
the light is amazing anyway. Composition is well thought-of with the majestic volcano in the BG .I feel the tree on the right-hand side is a bit bothering though.

Hi Kristine.
The light was just perfect for this shot and the rest was left to your flawless framing. The trunk, red flower balances well with the foliage on the left. The pier makes excellent leading perspective to the stunning backdrop. Brilliant shot and thanks for sharing.

Hi Cristine, You were very lucky to see such a view! when i was in panajachel even on sunny day the San Pedro was not visible. i almost dobted it was there :). Only jest before our leaving we saw it but not like here. Marvelous composition with this red flower. The light here is also fabulous. They say, it is the most beautiful lake in the world - looking at this photo I could believe it.

Hi Kristine,
Love the red flower and intriguing light to the lush tropical foreground.
The backdrop is full of mystical mystery with the mist covering the volcanic mountain surrounded by the soft blue sky.
The colors are rich and the details sharp.

Hi Kristine
I have already seen the same view from the same POv, I think, long ago. I am happy to realise that the enchantment still work now, with an apparently unspoiled view. on your picture, the red of the flower, the soft light, and the smoke belt around the volcano gives a lot of charm and good mood. Simple, efficient, and no matter to have seen it already somewhere, since the magic still has a powerful effect!
Congratulations!

Salut Kristine! This is wonderful, what a dream place for a vacation. I remember that I have seen this place before. No wonder HE wanted to show you THIS. Hard to leave this paradise behind. The flower is just lovely. I guess I would sit on the board walk forever with one of THESE drinks in my hand and every once in a while I would take my camera and SHOOT. Have a great day in NY ... mine is ending with yoga which begins in an hour. Barbara.

Hello Kristine,
What a spectacular view. Aldous Huxley's words describe the scene well. The distant volcano, the mist hovering near the bottom of the peak, and most prominently, that brilliant orchid — your composition a surpassing. Incidentally, it seems to me the Empire State Building is 340 meters in height!

Hi, Kristine -
Early morning light can be quite useful even without a dramatic sunrise, as this shot shows. You get a strong sense that the sun is just rising from the combination of shadows and golden, slanted sunlight. Nice positioning of the flower, too.

Hello Dear Kristine, the depth of field is striking here, I can see every ridge and notch on that volcano, which by the way is superb. I love the play of light especially in the FG and that exotic red plant is not just beautiful, it must be huge! It, together with the tree provides a beautiful lead into the lake and volcano. Great job, I love it. Hugs, Lisa

And i managed to miss this one...it takes a special skill to do it..trust me..
Were you using, slide rulers. The proportions are perfect, the balance, you really did give a moment for this one, like the pieces of Lego fitting and plugging onto the right one, you know it looks right when youve plugged it right..
this scene is flawless..
i mean comeon...did the low could trail just walk in ?, and the sun beams just decided to kiss the bark of the tree for no good reason and and the rose or whatever rose-like plant..did it feel so bored that it just stood up and say hi there..nice lens..is the polarizer nikon ?
whats going on here.

Hi Krstine,
We always hope for better light, more dramatic sky, sunset, sunrise, but that is all in the hand of mother nature, nothing we can do differently. This is about as beautiful as I have seen of this place, and I remember seeing it on Kristaps' gallery a year ago. Don't tell him but I like this one much better :) I like the soft warm light, the lake is fantastic with its rich deep blue, The volcano look perfectly shape and situated in the right place for a wonderful composition. The little of haze that soften the clarity of the volcano provided us the sense of depth.
What a view to wake up to. I'm envious. Thanks for sharing.

Hello Kristine
An amazing place indeed and what a setting! South America is a dream for me and perhaps would stay a dream only, so I feast on the beauty through your pictures..The red flower in the FG is an attention grabber and vies for attention with the Volcán San Pedro in the BG. Wonderful framing with the foliage and the extra beauty is the late light shining on the tree and the pier below. Excellent work!

Google.
Good morning, here is a lot of cold, winter goes.
Nice view, good foreground water, which leads us to the mountains in the mist, beautiful paintings and photographs. Trees with molom with light that fell on them a real photo car, like it, congratulations.
Nice day, Paja.
