Photographer's Note

the quality is not too good but there is so few pics from Haiti here that I decided to post this one. We were riding bicycles across the country, first on the Route Nationale 2, one of 2 proper roads in the country, from Port Au Prince to Les Cayes, and then, where the road ends, on the trail around southern and western coast, finally making a loop and emerging in Jeremie. The journey was long and very difficult but rewarding. This was right trough a vodou country, which saw virtually no tourists in years. Country so different from others in Caribbean, still free from american cultural influence, where people wash clothes in the rivers and cook with the charcoal. Unfortunately I had only cheap compact camera and was not interested in photography, actually a lot of the pictures were done by my girlfriend Julia, while I was busy recording amazing sounds of that country.
