Photographer's Note
These men are responsible for safely transporting tourists to their village across the Chagres River in eastern Panama. The boats are long canoes, powered by an outboard motor. One man runs the motor, while the other man stands at the front, watching for obstacles, like logs and crocodiles.
Their bodies are painted, not tattooed. They dress in native beaded attire like this every day, unless they go into the city for supplies or other business, then they put on more modern garb.
