Photographer's Note
Marigot Bay has an idyllic Caribbean waterfront with anchored boats, sandy beaches, and open-air restaurants; everything is almost as clean and shiny as Disneyland in this boat charter site. This rather plastic atmosphere was a contrast to the reality seen later in the day at Soufriere where people were struggling for survival by aggressively offering goods and services. I expect the rather notable guards at Margiot Bay explained the difference.

Hi Pat,
Relaxing-looking scene, sorry to hear it belied the actual atmosphere of the country outside the area. I imagine there are some areas like that in Haiti, as well, but now it is hard to ignore the way the things really are there.
This made for a wonderful beach resort image, though, for sure. Nice, calm, green lagoon - makes me wish for a drink with a pink or yellow paper umbrella in it...
Ah vacation!
Have a nice evening,
Reed

Hello Pat -
Now here is an image to get me ready for Hawai'i. (We leave on Feb 1 for three weeks.) You did a great job managing the strong light and holding back the specular highlights off the water. At first I had a negative reaction to the composition but it has grown on me and I think it works.
Thank you for sharing.

Hello Pat,
I notice the colour of the water - one would almost think there is a glacier near by hehehe!
A picturesque scene but as you say it is a struggle for life indeed, but at least they don't have to worry about how to keep warm (we still have a cold January over here)...
The scene is well framed and the colours are outstanding, the big old palm tree is an eye-catcher!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hi Pat,
Simple, weather beaten looking cottage below palms gives a strong impression of unhurried Caribbean lifestyle. Harmonous all green colours. Gently waving water deserves well to get the larger part of the frame.
Incidentally I'll be staying in town of Marigot on my journey, but that Marigot is in St. Martin.

Hello Pat! In so many countries the same story, isn't it? Once you leave the hotels behind, you see people fighting for their basic needs. Very often it is their own people that to do not want to share and it is only me and you that see it different. Nevertheless, this is a lovely house with water front, it has a very special charme for me. Love your huge water foreground and that you only left a stripe of land, very attractive this way. Have a good weekend, Barbara.

Hi Pat, the scene has the caribian mood. The clean water the trees and the wood-made restaurant. It looks with Rio de Janeiro south that has the same mood.
Thanks for share.

Bonjour Pat,
Ce paysage est superbe avec la grande part laissée ŕ l'eau verte du premier plan. La lumičre vient éclairer les palmiers et les pontons. Beau travail !

Hello Pat,
Superb lights and colors on this photograph of this ydillic landscape, that changes me rain and greyness which we have on Versailles in this moment !!! I like much your choice of framing with this preponderance given to the watery element with its beautiful emerald color. Very pleasant place, thank you Pat.
With all my friendships and a very good WE,

Olá Pat!
Beautiful view, indeed. Good amount of water, with a great color.
However, I'd like to see also photos of "Soufriere where people were struggling for survival".

Hello Pat,
The vegetation and the aspect of the hut are indicators of its geographical location. The light is superb and highlights the transparency of water and its colors emerald. The composition is pleasant and of excellent quality, clear and luminous. Cheer.
Have a nice day

Hi Pat,
This does look like a little bit of paradise with the glimmering shades of green to the slightly riffiling sea.
The lush tropical greens make a lovely backdrop for this traditional island home to stand out against.
Is it not curious that most tropical spots across the globe struggle economically.

Hello Pat
The face of tourism as you've seen it, till the reality bites! Same goes true for so many countries I've visited and I'm from a developing country myself! Like the colour of the water and the shed out there with lush tropical vegetation in the BG

Hi Pat, I just looked at a shot of Luciano's (lousat) which reminds me of your beautiful photo. Both make me want to dive into that emerald water. It looks so tropical and peaceful, the image is lovely and sharp and I love the subtle reflections on the water. TFS and have a lovely day, Lisa

Hi Pat,
This water is fantastic, refreshing, within this tropical setting. I just want to dive in there. Beautiful composition and good that you included so much of the water with grimmering reflections of light.
Thanks. Good night.

Hello Pat!
What an attractive tropical environment!
With the best pov, level of sharpness, exposure, natural colors, dof and composition, this picture has really won my heart! Although I prefer cold weather, when not working, I'd love to jump into that water and stay there just doing nothing for a long time!
TFS - congratulations!
Best regards,

Hi Pat,
This house looks like a bar placed in an idyllic place. I like the transparency and the color of such a clean water, which green tones have a nice contrast with the tropical vegetation in the background.
It is a beautiful and relaxing composition.
