Photographer's Note
Austria's Schloss Schonbrunn, located outside downtown Vienna, was the Austrian Versailles - the summer residence of Austria's royal family from the 16th to the 20 century. Surrounded by hills and beautiful gardens, it is among Austria's most popular tourist destinations.
On the grounds, at the top of a hill behind the palace itself, is the Gloriette, a collonaded structure built to impress Empress Maria Theresa. It worked, not only in impressing the empress but in impressing me - it stands out beautifully against the sky, and as we descended from it at sunset the light glowed around the building.
