Photographer's Note

The architecture in Brussels is diverse, and spans from the clashing combination of Gothic, Baroque, and Louis XIV styles on the Grand Place to the postmodern buildings of the EU institutions.

Manneken Pis is a well-known public sculpture in Brussels.
Very little medieval architecture is preserved in Brussels. Buildings from that period are mostly found in the historical centre (called Îlot Sacré), Saint Géry/Sint-Goriks and Sainte-Catherine/Sint Katelijne neighbourhoods.
The Brabantine Gothic Cathedral of St. Michael and St. Gudula remains a prominent feature in the skyline of downtown Brussels. Isolated portions of the first city walls were saved from destruction and can be seen to this day. One of the only remains of the second walls is the Halle Gate. The Grand Place is the main attraction in the city centre and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1998.
The square is dominated by the 15th century Flamboyant Town Hall, the neo-Gothic Breadhouse and the Baroque guildhalls of the former Guilds of Brussels.
Manneken Pis, a fountain containing a small bronze sculpture of a urinating youth, is a tourist attraction and symbol of the city.

Hi Costa,

A good view of a pleasant part of Brussels, showing some nice floral decorations and people going about their daily lives. I like the two bike riders at the left - they look like they are about to start a race.

Hello Costantino,
I don't know Brussels well, so the buildings could have been from anywhere. But the two cyclists on the left side and the sign offering 'Belgian frites' give the view a local accent. The entrance to the next street is very nicely decorated.

Hi Costantino,
Great use of your stay in Luxembourg to also explore the neighbouring countries. It is so easy when the country is small you can just travel one two hours and you are in a different country. Living on the island like I live in the UK makes me trapped here, I need to fly most of the time to get out of here.
Lovely street scene here with plenty of light. A lot of action with the two bikers and a stand with deserts as well.

Very nice view from the centre of Brussels. Classic buildings look very nice. And that ribbon of flowers is beautiful. I didn't first notice that those bikers are polices.

This is a pleasant street view with lots of interesting details. I like the flowers framing the side street, the cyclists getting ready to move, and the people walking around. I would also like to try food from both of those food shops! The "man" made out of the cup of fries is also funny. :-) Take care!
