Sint-Michielsbrug:

The Sint-Michielsbrug is a stone arch bridge in the center of the Belgian city of Ghent. The bridge is located over the Leie, on the south side of the Graslei and Korenlei. The current monumental bridge was built in the period 1905-1909, after the foundation of the postal building. Both the Sint-Michielsbrug and the Old Post Building are creations by architect Louis Cloquet.

Previously there was a flat swing bridge. The bridge is part of the Sint-Michielshelling street. From the bridge one has a view to the north of the Gras- and Korenlei, and in the distance the Gravensteen. To the east, the bridge offers a typical view of the three Ghent towers: the Sint-Niklaaskerk, the Belfry of Ghent and the Sint-Baafs Cathedral. On the southwest side is the Saint Michael's Church. The bridge was protected as a monument in 1983

Hello John,
A very good photo with distinct colours and contrasts. It is taken from a good angle showing fine buildings to the left and the right and the bridge going between them. The woman coming down the steps is nicely included.

Hallo John, that bridge is more than hundred years old. It is surrounded by a recreational area, cafes, a cathedral and a belfry. It comprises a pedestrian way with stairs. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

Er zijn zoveel prachtige gebouwen hier te zien in deze goed gebalanceerde compositie. De brug is prachtig met een mooie variatie aan bogen. De trapgevels rechts en de imposante kerk vormen een mooi achtergrond, allemaal in een aangenaam licht.

Hallo John,
Ik ken deze plaats vrij goed en toch ben ik verbaasd over het resultaat van een foto genomen op die exacte plaats uitkijkend in die richting.
Misschien dien ik daaruit te besluiten dat ik voortaan minder voor de hand liggende standpunten moet innemen en (nog) meer in het rond kijken om vanuit nieuwe invalshoeken toch meesterlijke foto's te nemen.
Fantastische combinatie van de gekende Sint-Michielsbrug, de Sint-Michielskerk en de Hostel Uppelink.
Haarscherp tot in de kleine details. Zeer mooie contrasten.

Hello John, beautiful view of this church in Ghent. Wonderful tenement houses, interesting square tower. Excellent composition , nice colours with some red elements, fine sharpness. As I read in the note, it looks old but it isn't in fact.

Hello John,

THis looks to be a city which has similar attractive features to Bruges.
You have included the buildings in a fine composition, the steps leading up to the bridge but also, guiding us to the details of the church, and eventually to the red-brick building on the far side. Is that stepped effect on the roof an example of crow-stepping'?

The red features on the right all help the balance this fine composition.

Even the sky and the clouds helped to make this a very successful shot.
