HANSBEKE
De Sint-Petrus en Pauluskerk
History
According to a document dated 7 March 1145, Symon, bishop of Noyon-Tournai, donated the Hansbeke altar to Goswijn, the abbot of the Drongen abbey.
Installation of stained-glass windows (1890-1905) (87)
In 1889 Lucie married Borluut (img. 33), granddaughter and heiress of Frans
Gisleen Borluut and Sidonie Kervijn, with Count Boudewijn de Bousies (ill.
32). In the 1990s, the couple had 14 church windows (in plain frosted glass)
replaced by stained glass windows. These stained-glass windows exist
yet.
The windows in the high choir represent the church patrons Peter and Paul and
bear the alliance coat of arms of the Borluut-Kervijn family. The windows in the
side aisles bear the alliance coat of arms de Bousies-Borluut: they depict
scenes from the Holy Scriptures and the nominal saints of the donors and of their.
children.
The windows of the church patterns were probably painted in 1890, shortly after the marriage
of the donors. The windows may also date with the
namesakes of the donors (Balduinus and Lucia) from the same year while
the placement of the other windows may perhaps be situated in the
birth year of the children.
The 14 stained-glass windows were placed without the drawings of them being
Royal Commission of Monuments in Brussels were approved and
without the authorization provided for by Royal Decree of 16.08.1824,
had been granted.
I hope you like it.

Hallo John,
Een heel mooie foto van deze glas-in-loodramen, de kleuren zijn uitstekend, zeker afgezet tegen de donkere muren om hen heen.

Hello John
Stained glass always has a lovely charm. The blackness of the glass has made them more prominent. In this image, the depth and exposure are well done. Thanks for sharing

Hello John,
The rain and bad weather was a good reason for a photo session inside the church. The dark wall between the three windows enhances the effect of the colours of the stained glass. The colours and details are beautiful and the photo is perfectly exposed, as well as having a nice symmetry.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi John
You made the best use of the available light and produced excellent photos of these three stained glass windows. They are colourful and well lit and look great on the dark background.
They remind me of the windows in the church in the town where I lived during my childhood. Lots of memories!
Best wishes
Kasia

Hi John,
Great presentation of the stained gkass windows. Having three of them and some slightly under an angle makes us to imagine the shape of the interior walls.
Great colors and interesting details.
Very well done,

Hi John,
Impressive view of these three stained glass windows. There are lots of small details, and no doubt installation has required a lot of skill. Good exposure.

hello John. Excellent presentation of these three glass windows. With the bad weather, I would rather stay home than to go for a long ride. I admire your determination. On the left, it is probably the Assunciation scene.

Hello John,
You did well cycling when the temperature was so low, hopefully there was no ice!
The day was grey outside but it has not stopped you from capturing a really beautiful photograph of the stained glass windows inside the church.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Terrific stained glass windows with a perfect exposure and wonderful colour. Not as easy as it looks with such contrasted lighting. Tfs!
