Photographer's Note

The Sambre is a river taking its source in France and throwing himself into the river Meuse in Namur 180 km further.
His bed is channeled at many places to enable navigation and transport of materials, significant activity in the areas of coal and steel production. This activity is now dramatically reduced.
Lock 8 is located near the Aulne Abbey, in a still rural area suitable for walks at the edge of the water.
The place has an old-world charm with many brasseries evoking the taverns of the beginning of the last century and this small lock reminiscent of some novels written by Georges Simenon.
