Ponte dei Sospiri, a photo from West-Vlaanderen, Flanders

Photographer's Note

This little bridge connects Bruges City Hall (in the left) with Brugse Vrije across street called Blinde Ezelstraat. I was lucky to be there when the sunlight entered the very narrow street at a perfect angle to lit it well. One can argue it was lit even too brightly. It reminded me the famous Ponte dei Sospiri in Venice.

What a beautiful little bridge in this narrow alley. Its full of appealing details, especially the golden decorations and sculptures. The brick façades at right look great too and are nicely lit by the bright sunlight. Well done.

Hello Mariusz,

You have but 45 minutes per day for take this picture between 13h and 14h, then the sun is in the south.
I think that on this place one day ten thousand passing between the fish market and the Burg at city house.
A very nice architectural view about the area.
Sharpness and clarity are pleasant to look at.

Ha, I like the answer of John. He has thought it out nicely when exactly you have to take this picture.
Good that you didn't just walk on in the crowd, but looked up.
Excellent sharp capture. The golden tones are well rendered.
You gained more depth in the image by including the street lamp.

Yes, as you mentioned in your note, You were so lucky to get so nice sun light from the appropiate angle. If there were no sunlight, we could not see such golden shining statue on the top. So sophisiticated image based on deep and stunning history and culture.

Hello Marius,

Yes, the street, particularly the bridge, is very well lit, allowing us to study the beauty of the gilded decorations and statues, and the accentuated shaping.
The lamp anchors the f/g and helps give a good sense of depth.

This is very definitely a Mariusz photograph, not the sort of photograph that we would expect from John.

Narrow alleis always a difficult take, due to light variable's and the limited space, but you managed a fine view through.
Timing was good, as the top golden-plated statue was fully shining.

Beautiful and bright construction of this bridge that connects two mansions, reminds us if only by name of Venice, but they are different, the set is very interesting, I do not remember seeing this place when I visited Bruges.
