HANSBEKE
De Sint-Petrus en Pauluskerk

History
According to a document dated 7 March 1145, Symon, bishop of Noyon-Tournai, donated the Hansbeke altar to Goswijn, the abbot of the Drongen abbey.

The current church was built in neoclassical style, in the last decade of the 18th century, with a neo-baroque tower as the most striking element. On October 19, 1918, the Germans blown up the tower during the withdrawal. Due to the further shelling of the village (October 20 - November 2), the church itself was hit by shell explosions. The architect Valentin Vaerwyck led the restoration in 1922-1923.

The church was protected as a monument in 1981.
